The client approached us for help in developing a proof of concept to allow branded content to be delivered both within an organisation, and over the Internet.

Work undertaken by Scott Logic

Scott Logic undertook an investigation into possible solutions and developed a proof of concept using a .NET 2.0 client, with a back-end based on SQL Server and web services running on IIS. The message content format was XML adhering to the Atom Syndication Format specification.

A key requirement of the prototype was to allow the appearance of alerts to be highly customisable. Two methods of achieving this were demonstrated, one using C# WinForms, and the other using C# interacting with HTML/CSS/JavaScript.

The clients benefited from a prototype which is used, not only to display to their clients, but also internally, to share branded content within their own organisation.

Despite the application only being a proof of concept, the clients were so impressed that they are now using the system as a prototype within their own organisation.

In addition to producing the proof of concept and its documentation, extensive research into alternative and future solutions was also documented.
