Senior Developer, Edinburgh
I joined Scott Logic in September 2006 after graduating from Durham University, where I read Computer Science. What had initially attracted me to Scott Logic was the prospect of working with a group of very intelligent people and of being regularly challenged both technically and personally – I was not disappointed.
At Scott Logic there is a big emphasis on collaborative working and ensuring everyone at all levels has responsibility and is productive. Although the responsibility initially seemed a little daunting, ever-present support from all those around me, including fellow graduate developers, ensured that I quickly discovered the Scott Logic workplace was one in which I could thrive. It has become clear that with its continual collaboration and encouragement and an openness to hear all opinions the working environment here is constantly stimulating.
My role in the company has developed significantly since those early days. Initially I was involved with some smaller-scale, client-facing projects before moving onto a period of internal research work. Subsequently my responsibilities shifted to include the extension and maintenance of several larger-scale client projects, whilst maintaining involvement in internal research. I have used new technologies both during research and client work, thereby ensuring an ongoing freshness to the everyday work.
