Our client required advice, design and the development of an application to allow access to its FX, Fixed Income, Equity and Quant Strategies research on mobile devices.
Business Drivers
The rapid increase in popularity of iPhone and iPad devices within the investment banking community, (and the perception that their brand image would be eroded if they were left behind) combined with calls from senior internal staff for iPhone support prompted demand for a mobile version of the research portal.
Achievements
Following on from our strategy advice and architecture consultancy our client decided to develop an application for both the iPhone and the iPad.

High-level strategy, design and architecture.
Rapid Application Prototyping to produce a lightweight prototype on the iPhone to demonstrate what could be done.
Early decisions included making the application native to iOS using Objective C (as opposed to using a web/HTML/javascript approach) in order to achieve excellent performance and native iPhone look and feel which customers would be used to.
The challenge was to develop a compelling mobile application, for both form factors, in a way which allowed the client to experiment with application design and which convinced internal stakeholders that the project was achievable within reasonable time and cost.
Scott Logic helped to successfully manage the App Store release process, including advising on licensing requirements.
