Our Graduate Programme

Applications for 2010 are now closed. Please check the site later in the year for information about the 2011 programme.

Our Graduate Programme will give you a great start to your career. Highlights include:

  • Real project work
  • Externally run training courses
  • Work towards industry recognised accreditations
  • Away days
  • Social activities

The Scott Logic graduate programme will provide you with the foundations for your career with us. You will hone your software and consulting skills with a mixture of taught courses, real project work and support in gaining industry recognised accreditation. You will work closely with your peers in the programme, who’ll also be amongst the best graduate talent in the UK.

Our graduate programme starts with a fast-paced induction week, introducing you to the company, the industries we work in and the clients we work for. You’ll learn about the projects we’re doing right now, and the technologies we’re using. There will also be plenty of time to get to know your fellow graduates and other colleagues in our Newcastle and Edinburgh offices both professionally and socially.

After the induction week, you’ll hit the ground running doing real development work. Initially you’ll be working with your peers on real technical projects where you will get a chance to see it through from gathering requirements to delivery. This will allow you to hone your skills with the cutting edge technologies and modern agile software engineering practices we use.

Our graduate programme does not stop there. There will be externally-run courses through the first year too, covering things from Agile development practices through to software design and patterns. You will have away days with your fellow graduates where you can share experiences and support each other during the programme.

We will also support you in gaining industry recognised accreditations – such as Microsoft’s Technology Specialist Certification, or Sun’s Java certification. This will give you tangible qualifications to demonstrate just how far you will have come in such a short period of time.

We’ll give you all the support you need – we know there’s a lot to take in at the start. You’ll have a “buddy” who’ll be outside your projects, able to help guide you through settling into the company and will ensure things run smoothly (and treat you to the odd pub lunch). There will always be experienced colleagues on-hand to guide you – whether its in an advisory role for projects you’re responsible for, or as a team leader for larger client work.

By the end of the first year you’ll be off to a great start to your career.  You’ll be more than ready to stand on your own two feet within the company, but the support networks you’ve built up will still be there when you need them, and we’ll remain committed to developing your skills and experience.
