What We Do

Applications for 2010 are now closed. Please check the site later in the year for information about the 2011 programme.

Our customers include some of the biggest names in the financial sector. Financial organisations place significant demands on their IT systems. Traders, asset managers and analysts all rely on technology and software applications to do their jobs and these systems must help finance workers analyse vast amounts of data rapidly and make quick decisions, as well as support millions of trading activities every day.

All of the large financial institutions (e.g. investment banks) have their own software development teams. However, as financial IT systems grow and become more complex, these organisations have increasingly started to outsource their development activities to specialist software development companies such as Scott Logic.

The scope of work taken on by our company includes:

  • Green-field application design and development
  • Application enhancement and re-engineering
  • Enterprise integration
  • Technology and architecture consultancy

Our clients demand we stay at the cutting-edge and you will find yourself adapting quickly to new things. We work with many technologies, including:

  • Object oriented languages (Java, C#, C++)
  • Web technologies (ASP.NET, JSP, Javascript)
  • Rich Internet Applications (Flex, Silverlight, AJAX)
  • Relational databases (Sybase, Oracle, SQL Server)
  • Middleware (WCF, CORBA, TIBCO, XML)

The systems we work on are typically business-critical for our clients, and frequently have strict performance requirements. We work in both Windows and Unix/Linux environments.

We encourage developers to delve into areas that particularly interest them. Our blogs allow us to discuss what we’re thinking about at the moment, and contribute to the wider software community. We present at conferences and contribute to open source projects. Six of our developers recently entered the Mix10K competition to create a web application using no more than 10k of code. We are sure you will relish the opportunity to get involved in projects such as these.
