Scott Logic have been crowned winners of the HSBC sponsored Small Business of the Year award in the Tyneside and Northumberland heat of the North East Business Awards 2007.

Over 300 companies entered the region’s biggest and best business awards, the first heat of which was held in the Marriott Hotel Gosforth Park, Newcastle, last Thursday. Regional news reader, Wendy Gibson, hosted the black-tie dinner which was attended by over 400 guests, all celebrating the successes of local, hard-working and innovative entrepreneurs.

Scott Logic fought off stiff competition to win the most popular category of the awards, and will now go on to the grand final in May. The judging panel for the Small Business Award looked for exceptional managerial and financial performance, good potential for growth and strong evidence of commitment and imagination in the product or service. The judges were particularly impressed with Scott Logic’s passion for hiring top talent and keeping it in the region and with the international client base that Scott Logic boasts.

Other winners included Newcastle International Airport, as Company of the Year, and Northumbria University who were presented with the Internet & ICT Award.
